Reflection

Today there is a new way

You gave everything in love for the unlovely.
For no-one is outside the reach of your redeeming love.

Greatcommission.co.uk is here to inspire and equip you as you share Jesus with those around you.

This Good Friday prayer by Fred Drummond, director of prayer at the Evangelical Alliance, reflects on Jesus’ sacrifice – reminding us that no-one is outside the reach of his redeeming love.

Today there is a new way

Lord Jesus,
When we think of you hanging on the cross,
We are lost in wonder.
You gave everything in love for the unlovely.

Suspended between heaven and earth,
Each breath an agony of grace,
Flesh-ripped, blood-dripped love.

Lord, even in this time of agony
You thought of others,
Reaching out in mercy,
Bringing hope in the midst of darkness.

Today there is a new way:
The way of peace and reconciliation,
Of hope and restoration.

Lord today we pray for all those
Who have had hope squeezed from them,
Those whose constant refrain is bleak desperation.

May they find that today
Your presence offers strength, life
And a better future.

For no-one is outside the reach of your redeeming love.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
